I recently finished reading this book written by the comedian George Burns.

It was interesting from cover to cover detailing how he met Gracie Allen who became his wife and their several decades Love Affair as man and wife.

Some of the highlights are how he started out by himself, just barely making as a vaudeville entertainer. After he met Gracie he became a success and owes ALL of his success to HER talent.

George said something in the book that really stuck with me. He said, "I THOUGHT I WAS ONE OF THE BEST ENTERTAINERS OF MY DAY, I DID NOT THINK FOR A MINUTE I WOULD FAIL OR THAT I WAS NOT TALENTED. "

I read several biographies every year and I find the same story to those people who have seen great success. THEY REALLY BELIEVED IN THEMSELVES.

Failure is in YOUR MIND. If you think you can not succeed at something than you probably will NOT.

I was inspired by Mr. Burns.

If anyone who finds entertainer biographies interesting and you need a bit of encouragement to find your SUCCESS, I think you will enjoy this book by George Burns.

Literary slugger John Grisham returns with a story about-- surprise!--a lawyer in trouble. Patrick Lanigan had been a young partner in a prominent Southern law firm. He had a beautiful wife, a new baby girl, and a bright future. Then one winter night Patrick was trapped in a burning car; the casket they buried held nothing but ashes.

A short distance away, Patrick watched his own burial then fled. A fortune was stolen from his ex-firm\'s offshore account. And Patrick ran, covering his tracks the whole way. But, now, they\'ve found him.

All I can say is this movie is slapstick, cornball, silly, and there is a highway scene in it where Eddie Murphy is also playing another part that you have to see.  I almost fell out of my chair.

If you enjoy watching a silly movie and you enjoy laughing, watch Bowfinger.

Well, each movie I guess always has its own story of love and romance. It\'s always part of it. Hmmm, obviously my next review. You know, I\'m a bit bias. I make reviews or say, online summaries if I recommend the films. I\'m an advocate of good movies! And readers of this site should also see what I see! That\'s how I love ya\'ll cyberpals! Remember, if you love the person, you are willing to share your food that you think is delicious on your taste buds. Right? So, here\'s the soup before the main course.
\r\n
\r\n
\'stardust.jpg\'

\r\n
\r\nThis fantasy film is based from the best-selling novel by Neil Gaiman originally published by DC comics as it evolves in the village of England called Wall that is divided by walls that separates the mysterious and forbidden land from the common villagers. From the novel, it is illustrated by Charles Vess and directed by Matthew Vaughn. The cast are Charlie Cox (Tristan); Claire Danes (Yvain, the falling star); Sienna Miller (Victoria); Michelle Pfeiffer (Lamia, the wicked witch); Peter O’Toole (dying King); Nathaniel Parker (Dunstan Thorne,Tristan\'s father); Kate Magowan (Una, Tristan\'s mother); Mark Strong (Septimus); Ricky Gervais (Ferdy the fence); Robert De Niro (Captain Shakespeare).
\r\n
\r\nPersonally, I kinda recommend the movie! It\'s not just for kids, but it\'s a queer-friendly movie that fortifies the momentum of a drag queen. This is entailed when Captain Shakespeare who happens to be "notorious" ship captain is a closet queen. He is conscious on his reputation and got lots of talents! Well, queers are known for it! lol You would find yourselves laughing and giggling throughout the screenplay. Having your friends, co-workers, family, sweethearts or date with you is a plus! A child-friendly movie as well! No explicit content! And so, so, so, hail to the queers! Our life just proves that we live in an extravaganza colorful role in the society. The funny queer scenes in the film is a spice to the main course! And I think that\'s why it is destressing to watch it!
\r\n
\r\nThe extraordinary romance of the movie shows that true love finds it way in search for a falling star! A young man, who is Tristan has promised to seek for the falling star and bring it to his then beloved, Victoria, the conventional village beauty who persuaded him to present it as her birthday gift in return for her love! Poor boy! A slave for love. But it came to a twist that Tristan got enamored with the falling star itself, Yvaine who glows when she\'s emotionally inspired feeling the warm embrace of the young man. I can\'t just imagine, if we would be stars, then it\'s obvious that we are inspired aside from the blush bliss!
\r\n
\r\n
\'stardust_tristan.jpg\'

\r\n
\r\nTristan is the offspring of the commoner, Dunstan Thorne and Una (the captive princess of Stormhold) who happens to be the slave of the witch Ditchwater Sal. The young Dunstan in his testosterone-driven age, unprevented, eagerly escaped from his village and went to the forbidden land where he found Una! He made love to her and after nine months, he got an unforgettable token, the baby boy, named Tristan! The product of an impulsive one night stand in which one forgets his inner being. The union of a royalty and an ordinary lad pave it\'s way to a new born heir of the Kingdom of Stormhold. It is the same American or Western movie in the modern time. Boy meets Princess or College Girl meets Prince! Sort of those like teenage films. Showing that love happens unexpectedly. No matter what, even the distance is light years!
\r\n
\r\nI can\'t really make a detailed story of it. Leave it to the theaters. lol Just my own review. I want you to watch it for yourself. The queer recommends it!
\r\n
\r\nThe end of the movie is of course the fairy tale cliche tag line: And they live happily ever after!

Recently My DVD player stopped working. I had to tear the lid off just to get my DVD out of the player. After I completely destroyed the player I had no way to watch the video I just received from netflix. And then I suddenly remembered, I have a LAPTOP and I can watch it there!

I had never watched a DVD on my laptop because I thought the quality would be poor. Also the size of the screen was not as big as my television.

BUT I WAS TOTALLY WRONG!!!!!

The quality is fantastic! The sound is better, I use headphones! And I can easily pause, review, fast forward with just a simple touch of the mouse.

I have seen things that I could NOT see on my television screen. SUPERIOR RESOLUTION! You can see the MAKEUP and pores on the actors faces if you study them closely.

If you have not tried it, pop a DVD into your lap top and I am sure you will be very pleased. I doubt if I will ever purchase a new DVD player. Well at least not until I get a 60 inch plasma screen.

The author Michael Gill was a high paying executive living a carefree life of excess. He had all the THINGS he ever could want. But he was fired from his executive job and soon had no place to go. No Job, Money running out fast and he needed a JOB!

He started working at Starbucks cleaning bathrooms and doing general store cleaning. He was not used to being at the bottom of the corporate ladder as he was from a life of privilege. Growing up socializing with important and famous people and living in a mansion.

Nothing in his past prepared him for the service industry running a cash register and cleaning floors. But something astonishing happened to him, he began to respect himself more and he was HAPPIER!

I heard of a situation recently where the family of a well paid executive also had lost his executive job and he made kids in the family go get JOBS!

The kids still living at home in their early 20\'s had also lived a life of privilege, late model cars, fancy home, and frivolous spending and a living standard far above many of their friends and other family members.

Now they were told they had to get out and work or the family would most likely lose everything their executive father had provided for them. It was a wake up call for these people as they had never really worked a day in their life. At least not like most of us!

I would recommend this book for them and everyone else as a great source for motivation and lessons of humility.

So many videos and not enough time. Every time I go out to the market or to a porch sale I am looking for DVD\'s. I do not like to pay the NEW price for a DVD, so I wait until I see a sale or get them used. I find lots of DVD\'s at the second hand shop and others at the grocery, many for $1 or even less at porch sales..( for those of you that do not know) A PORCH SALE IS WHAT PEOPLE DO HERE IN PENNSYLVANIA. THEY PLACE ALL THE THINGS THEY WANT TO GET RID OF ON THEIR PORCH AND SELL IT CHEAP! (sometimes called a garage sale)

I think by now most of you know BABYC, she has not seen very many movies and has NEVER SEEN my favorite movie of all time. THE WIZARD OF OZ! Can you believe that? She has never seen it!

I have a DVD but I do not want her to see it UNTIL we get A big screen Television or one of those DIGITAL PRESENTATION PROJECTORS. With one of those a person can see a movie the way it was supposed to be seen.

A movie like the WIZARD OF OZ, needs to be seen on the WIDE SCREEN! There is so much you miss with a small screen television and a tiny speaker. The music is wonderful and with a sound surround system you get the affect the producers of the movie wanted you to experience.  But unfortunately I DO NOT have either of these two items....

I am saving my pennies and nickles ( similar to 1 peso) maybe by the time DVD\'s are out of production I will have saved enough to show BABYC the WIZARD OF OZ the proper way. ON THE BIG SCREEN WITH FULL STEREO SOUND.

OK NOW FOR THE REVIEW...

Now if you do not know what the WIZARD OF OZ is all about, I will tell you now. DOROTHY is the star of the Movie, her little dog Toto and her live on a farm in Kansas and their live is very simple and not very exciting. She dreams about a beautiful place far - far away, SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW, that may be just the perfect place. I am sure you have heard the song, SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW. Well, it was made famous by the Actress who plays Dorothy. JUDY GARLAND, was her name and she was an amazing singer and only about 15 or 16 when she made this movie.  That was a long time ago, 1939 to be exact. But the movie is timeless, you would never guess that it is over 67 years AGO! Everyone I am sure has heard the song, because even babyc has heard that one... ha ha.
OK back to the movie.. Well, in the beginning Dorothy\'s dog TOTO gets into trouble with the LOCAL GRUMPY OLD WOMAN who comes to the farmhouse and demands that Dorothy give her the dog because TOTO has bitten her.

She tells Dorothy\'s aunt and uncle that she will cause lots of trouble for them if she does not turn TOTO over to her, so they give TOTO to the woman and she rides off with TOTO in her basket on her bicycle. BUT TOTO escapes and runs back to Dorothy!!! YAHOO!!!!

Dorothy is so upset she thinks the answer is to RUN AWAY from home... so she and TOTO run away from the Farm and this is where her Adventure really begins.. I do not want to give away too much, especially if you have not seen it.

 Here are some highlights...
THERE IS A TORNADO THAT LIFTS THE FARM HOUSE OFF OF THE GROUND AND PROPELS IT, OVER THE RAINBOW TO THE LAND OF OZ! Now that she is there she wants to Go Back to Kansas, so she starts on a Journey on the Yellow brick road to meet with the Wizard Of OZ to help her return to Kansas.

On the journey down the Yellow brick road she travels and meets....
A dancing and singing Scarecrow, a dancing and singing Tin-man and you guessed it, a dancing and singing Lion. She also meets an BEAUTIFUL WITCH, an Ugly Wicked Witch, who is out to get her and the magical RUBY slippers on her feet! And hundreds of singing little people called MUNCHKINS, and eventually the WIZARD OF OZ.

Each one of these characters has a need and they ask her if they can go with her to see the WIZARD OF OZ. The Scarecrow wants to go because he wants a BRAIN. The Tin-man is need of a heart because when the tinsmith that made him he forget to give him a heart. And the Lion wants COURAGE, as he is a coward, unlike any lion you have ever seen.

They sing, dance, laugh and cry on their journey to see the WIZARD OF OZ and I am sure you will find it a great movie for the family and want to watch it over and over again. Just like I am doing right now,Listening while I type this.  I love the music and dancing numbers and hearing JUDY GARLAND sing OVER THE RAINBOW. This movie brings back great childhood memories for me.

There are lots of surprises and lots of great music, GOOD FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT.

If you have not seen it for awhile or have NEVER seen it like BABYC rent it or buy the DVD. I am sure you will be happy you did. I have never met one person that did not like the WIZARD OF OZ!

I just received this book today and have not had the chance to read it completely. What I have read so far is the true life stories from people who tell how their decisions on that day 9/11/2001 changed their lives. Their lived were changed simply because they changed their flight plans that day. As they would have been passengers on the planes that crashed the day of the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the failed attack and crash of the plan in Pennsylvania.

The book was written by Tom Murphy who has several years of experience as a customer service consultant for a major airline. It is a compilation of several stories and how their lives were directly affected by the 9/11 attacks. And the fond memories of their friends and co-workers killed.

There is a healing and a positive message on how they reacted that day and how they are coping with this tragedy and the loss of family and friends.

A recommended read.

I have seen this movie almost every week since my daughter bought it for me. Two years ago I was visiting my daughter in San Francisco. We were walking downtown where all the great little shops are located. Whatever you are looking for From vintage clothes to the most modern fashions, San Francisco has got it!

"Angel On My Shoulder" 100 minutes b/w Released in 1946
stars Paul Muni, Anne Baxter and Claude Rains.
Paul Muni started acting as a teenager and made his Broadway debut in 1926. His Broadway success brought him to the attention of Hollywood and in 1931 he received the starring role in "SCARFACE" (the original version) He was given the freedom by the studio to create his own makeup, characterizations and different accents. Muni was an actor who became very involved in his roles and was well known for his great skill. His pears nominated him for 5 academy award nominations and was awarded the Oscar in 1936 for his portrayal of Louis Pasteur.

The movie begins with Paul Muni\'s character "Eddie Kagle" a notorious gangster, as he is being released from prison. His old friend "Smiley" who has been running the business while Eddie\'s been in jail, meets Eddie outside the prison and they drive away. "Smiley" is NOT such a good friend after all. As they are driving down the road "Smiley" Shoots Eddie  dead with his own gun.

Immediately Eddie enters HELL and is shocked to find out he is DEAD. And he begins to throw a fit and demands to be released from Hell.

Satan who is portrayed by Claude Rains notices that Eddie is an exact twin to a very honest and successful Judge who is still alive on Earth. Satan develops a plan to put Eddie\'s spirit into the Judge so he can gain the influence he wants on earth to corrupt more souls and to add the Judge to his condemned souls in hell.

All Eddie wants to do is SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER on his Old Friend SMILEY. And Satan promises Eddie if he does what he asks he will help Eddie get revenge on Smiley.

From the very beginning Eddie thinks he is going to tell Satan what to do he starts doing things his own way. This frustrates Satan as he finds he can not control Eddie the way he had planned.

Soon after Eddie enters the Judges body and gains control, he meets the Judges Fiance, played by Anne Baxter. He thinks she is a beauty and he will be able take control of her also. But he in for a big surprise. Eddie starts to change, he starts to see how he has wasted his life as a gangster and wants to do things right.

He goes against Satan\'s plan at every turn and it is a roller coaster ride of events thru the movie that makes you wonder what Eddie will do next. Eddie changes from a notorious gangster to a model of goodness. He even begins to think he could possibly stay on earth and change his life. But he finally realizes he will have to return to Hell and give the judge back his body.

The thing I like most about the movie is how well written it is. Movies today are full of special effects and computer wizardry and the story lines suffer.
This movie was made BEFORE more than a handful of special camera tricks so they had to have great writers and even greater actors.

As I sit here and type this review I am watching the movie again. Viewing number 458 I assume!

Did you know that Irving Berlin could not read music? But he was one of the most prolific writers of all time? He also could barely play the piano!

George Gershwin\'s life was cut short by a brain tumor at an early age but his music lives on to this day, over 70\'s year ago.

I loved the stories of what inspired them to write the songs that have become the standards. Their lives were not always happy and many experienced difficult if not tragic lives.

The book covers the years 1920\'s to the 1950\'s

Last weekend I found a book that I could not put down. After I brought it home I started to read it and did not stop until I had read it from cover to cover! I have never done that before, this book was that interesting!
I discovered fascinating details about Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy and many others. The book reprints WILL highlights of famous movie stars, writers, presidents, Producers, directors, artists, musicians and sports stars.

I was surprised at how Short the will for Elvis Presley was. And even more surprised at the length of Frank Sinatra. Did you know that Princess Dian had an estate worth $35 million?

I was also surprised at the incredible lack of planning that some of these famous and wealthy people had put into their final thoughts.

Check it out it is a good read.
