What a joy for a 33-year-old mom to see her 16-year-old daughter heading off to college.
Two weeks before the school opening was a stress for me and my daughter because she was so nervous and worried on how she would start a new stage of her life...college life. I think that no matter how many phone cards I spent to give her advise, nothing can really prepare her for the Big Day. Anyway, after hours of internet chatting, endless phone calls June 10 came like a lighting bolt and all she knew was she was sitting in her new world (hopefully for the next four years) and immediately started making friends from classmates from all over Manila and other provinces.
The next day, I received an SMS from her saying it was almost exactly the same during her first day in high school...and that she was OK, though she did not enjoy the day thoroughly because she was very new to the area plus the fact that they were able to meet only two of her profs.
She was busy the whole week touring the bigger campus, more buildings of different colleges.
My 16-year-old daughter is a freshmen in College of Business Administration, in another four more years, she would be joining me here in Dubai where we plan to stay for a long, long time.
